Spring is upon us.  Changes, changes, changes……..Diskin Galleries is expanding.  We are busy building more wall space as we embrace new artists.  In March we will be adding 6 more walls to accommodate more art!!!!!  Very exciting.

Our new exhibit, TRIUMPH OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT, a mixed media series by OLGA CAMPBELL and WESTCOAST ZEN, abstract “photo paintings” by BOB DISKIN, opened with an awesome party on February 24.  Thanks to everyone who attended to celebrate with us.  Great food and fine wine was had by all.  This exhibit will remain in the gallery until May 11, along with pieces by WENDY BARRETT, KAREN CAIN, STEVE BOLTON and ZOPHIA.

March promises to be just as adventurous for us as February.  Our famous Web Site is now launched, so you can view and purchase all of our art at www.diskingalleries.com or of course, in person at the gallery.  Tell your friends.

We are also extremely happy to be presenting drawings and paintings of southern France, by PETER MATTHEWS, at a new exhibit opening March 31st.   Peter and his wife, ANGELA MERRILLS, while traveling extensively throughout France, have published a book recounting their experiences, Angela’s recipes and Peter’s illustrations.   The book, "Hot Sun Cool Shadow" was published in Canada and the U.K., and will be for sale at an opening reception at Diskin Galleries on March 31, from 7 - 10 p.m. where the authors and artist will be available to sign.  Peter, in his past life, was the artistic and creative director of a large advertising company in Montreal ,where he won every major advertising award in Canada.  He and Angela then teamed up to form AM/PM Creative Consultants.   He is now a full-time painter, and they divide their time between Vancouver and their house in the village of Leran in southern France.  Peter's paintings and drawings are available for viewing and sale at www.diskingalleries.com

As Easter rapidly approaches, we are readying for a spring themed exhibit of BOB DISKIN'S works, photographs of his "children's series" set against the architecture of Vancouver.  We will also be featuring other local photographers' work for this show.  Poetry will continue at Diskin Galleries, with the next event on Sunday, March 17 from 7 - 9 pm.  If you are interested in reading, please come to the gallery that night, or you can call me, Karen, at 604-724-4667.  In April, we will be having the poetry evening on April 9, and our first script reading on Sunday, April 23 at 7 p.m.  We are looking for actors and writers that would be interested in participating, so please call me.

April will be a busy month for us as we are preparing for an incredible new show by Vancouver's own Canuck Goalie, KING RICHARD BRODEUR.  Diskin Galleries will be having an exhibition with Richard from May 12 to July 12, with a reception for the artist on Friday, May 12 from 7 - 10 p.m.  Highlights of the exciting 1982 Canuck's Stanley Cup playoffs will be showing that evening and throughout the show.  DVD's will be available for sale at the gallery.  Richard's paintings are currently available at www.diskingalleries.com for viewing and sale.

All this and more, promising to be an exciting year for us, and we are inviting you to join in the fun.  Stay tuned!!!!.
